Alumni Association Meeting

Yearbooks needed for archives!

We still need annuals to complete a set for the Adm. Building vault and one for the building. We need 2 copies of 1975 and 2 copies of 1986. We need one copy of each of the following: 1954,1955,1958,1959, 1978, 1985, 1990, 1992, 1999, 2003 and 2004. If you or someone you know can help, we'd love to get this project completed.  Contact Joan Cook at 903-884-2556 if you can help!

Carver Class of 1970 Reunion

The Carver High Class of 1970 will have their reunion July 29 and 30 during the Naples Watermelon Festival.

Update from Don Boozer

HAPPY (BELATED) NEW YEAR:
Somehow I have allowed several months to pass without an update on our meeting in September 2011.  Before I do that – I would like to thank all of you who attended the one in 2010.  By now – I am sure that everyone has seen all of the photos – but if you have not – let me know and I will see that you do.  We had a larger and more diverse group at the 2010 version and it is my goal to expand on that group in 2011.

I NEED YOUR HELP:
This year, I am enlisting the aid of a few people to help me promote the event.  I also need folks to help me find classmates and other individuals who attended PHS and invite them.  Specifically – I really NEED email addresses of anyone that we can add to our distribution list.  If you have contact with anyone that you feel would enjoy coming to our gatherings – please ask them if they mind of we add them to our distribution list and then give me their email address so that I can add them.  I am convinced that the more people who know about our gathering – the more that will come.  If you know of anyone who attended last year but is NOT on the distribution list – let me know that too.

2011 WEEKEND:
The dates are September 23, 24 and 25.  We will arrive on the 23rd (Friday) and depart on the 25th (Sunday).  The format is the same as last year.  The Excelsior Hotel will be ground zero and will be our gathering place.  We had 5 people go ahead and book their rooms last year before we left so that means that there are still 10 or so rooms available.  Like last year – I would like to book the hotel completely full of PHS alumni.  If you have not booked your room – please call 1-800-490-7270 and do it now. 

If you book the room now and your plans change, they allow you to cancel the reservation with no penalty up to a couple of days before the event.  Think you will be able to make it – book a room now.

HELPERS NEEDED:
Linda Lou Parker Tosh has agreed to be chairman of our fun and games committee and come up with some fun activities to do while we are together this year.  Cherilyn Mills and Ann DeVore have always helped me make calls and do follow up.  I need volunteers to help in the planning and logistics for the upcoming event.  If you would be willing to take a part in this – please let me know.  We won’t require a lot of your time but we really do need your help. 

I would also like YOUR ideas of what we should do and where we should go.  If there is something that you feel the group would enjoy doing – tell us!  If you have a favorite place to eat – tell us.  We need your input.

PHOTO GALLERY:
Morris Craig and I are going to build a digital photo gallery for all of us to share.  In order to do that we need YOU to go into your closet and pull down the box with your high school photos in it.  Then we ask that you go through the photos and pull out all of the ones that you believe would be of interest to others.  If you have the capability to scan the photos and send us the digital files – please do.  If you do not have that capability – we will scan them for you and give them back to you. 

If you live in the Naples area – please take your photos by The Monitor and drop them off with Craig.  He will scan them and give them back to you.  If you do not live in the Naples area – I ask that you mail them to me and I will scan them and mail them back to you.  (Don Boozer, 1400 N. Corinth Street, Suite 109, Corinth TX 76208).  In either case – the photos will be compiled and posted where YOU can have access to them and download or print any of them you like.  When we have the project completed we hope to have several hundred photos for you to share.  Help us by sending your photos now. 

I have literally 4 huge storage tubs full of photos that I have made in the past 50 years (thank goodness we are now shooting digital photos).  I am taking one of those tubs at a time and going through the photos as I watch TV.  I have about 50 photos scanned so far and hope to increase that number significantly.  I am asking that you do the same thing!  Go through them and get them to Craig or to me.   We will take it from there.

THE MONITOR:
Craig tells me that there will be another photo from our 2010 gathering in next week’s Monitor.  Watch for it.

PLEASE DON’T PROCRASTINATE: 
Act on these requests right away so that we can get both projects underway.  Before you know it – September will be on us and we want to have the best gathering ever in 2011.
